Updated to version 1.8.1

version 1.8.1 (Jul 16 2024)

  • FLIP Fluids 1.8.1 is an update to add support for Blender 4.2 and the new addon extension system.
  • Compatibility Notes:
    • FLIP Fluids 1.8.1 is officially supported in Blender 3.1 to Blender 4.2.
    • Blender 4.3: At this moment there are no known compatibility issues specific to Blender 4.3 Alpha, but this could change as Blender 4.3 develops. (Blender 4.3 Support).
  • Added: Support for Blender 4.2 and the new addon extension system.
    • With the introduction of Extensions in Blender 4.2, the old way of creating addons is considered deprecated. FLIP Fluids 1.8.1 has been converted to an Extension type addon so that it can be future proof and support extension features in future development. This version of the addon is still installable and supported in earlier versions of Blender.
    • In future development of the Blender Market, you may be able to download, install, and update your purchased products all within Blender!
    • Important: Changes have been made to the addon format and installation process in Blender 4.2+. In order to allow a smooth transition process, it is important to uninstall any previous versions of the FLIP Fluids addon from Blender 4.2 before installing this new version.
    • Updated addon installation/uninstallation guide can be found here.
  • Bug Fix: Fixed issue where whitewater spray-obstacle collisions were not properly handled, resulting in incorrect motion against obstacles and incorrect motion blur vectors.
  • Bug Fix: Fixed UI issue where irrelevant missing modifier warnings could be displayed before the modifiers needed to be initialized.
  • Bug Fix: Removed debug printing that could be displayed in the console when a scene update is triggered.
  • Bug Fix: Fixed NameError that could be triggered on a scene update.
  • Bug Fix: Suppressed Wstringop-overflow= false-positive warning in gcc 15.0.0.
  • Removed: The Preferences > Allow Addon Directory Renaming feature has been removed due to incompatibility with Blender 4.2+.
