version 1.8.2 (Oct 18 2024)

  • FLIP Fluids 1.8.2 is a small maintenance and stability update to add bug fixes and official compatibility support for Blender 4.3, set to release on November 12, 2024.
  • Compatibility Notes:
    • FLIP Fluids 1.8.2 is officially supported in Blender 3.1 to Blender 4.3.
    • Blender 4.4: At this moment there are no known compatibility issues specific to Blender 4.4 Alpha, but this could change as Blender 4.4 develops. (Blender 4.4 Support).
    • MacOS Compatibility: Supported in macos 11.2 Big Sur or later, which is also the minimum requirement of the earliest supported Blender 3.1.
      • Support for macOS 10.12 Sierra to macOS 10.15 Catalina has been dropped.
  • Bug Fix: Fixed harmless warnings when Blend files are loaded in Blender 4.3.
  • Bug Fix: Fixed performance issue where FLIP objects set to None type would be exported to the simulator.
  • Bug Fix: Fixed issues where unsupported Armature type objects could be exported to the simulator, resulting in a ‘NoneType’ object is not subscriptable error.
  • Bug Fix: Fixed issue where FLIP Fluids sidebar > Alembic Export Tool would fail if the viewport context was not set to Object Mode. The Alembic export tool will now automatically set the context to Object Mode during export.
  • Bug Fix: Added workaround to issue on the FlippedNormals marketplace where the Mixbox.plugin file would incorrectly download as Mixbox.zip, and would not be installable without changing the file extension name. The Mixbox installer menu will now accept installing .zip files to work around this issue.
  • Bug Fix: Added workaround to issue where command line operators would not launch correctly on Windows OS if the Blend filepath contained an ampersand (&) character (issue #640).
  • Bug Fix: Fixed ‘FLIP Fluids: Unable to locate addon preferences‘ warning after command line operator processes complete.
  • Bug Fix: Fixed baking error that would be triggered when any foam/bubble/spray/dust particles exceeded a count of 178 Million.
  • Bug Fix: Added maximum total whitewater particle limit of 357 Million to avoid a std::length_error baking error. Note: allowing the simulator to simulate this many whitewater particles is not recommended due to prohibitive resource usage when loading/rendering in Blender.
  • Bug Fix: Suppressed false-positive stringop-overflow= compile warning on Windows OS.
  • Bug Fix: Added workaround to potential issue on macOS where the fluid engine may not load on the first baking attempt if in use by another instance of Blender or by the filesystem.
  • Bug Fix: Misc fixes in example scenes package.
